A grieving widow named Anna (Nicole Kidman) is finally ready to remarry when a mysterious ten-year-old boy named Sean (Cameron Bright) arrives claiming to be the reincarnation of her dead husband. As the boy reveals intimate details only the real Sean could have known, Anna finds herself pulled back into the past she thought she had buried. Jonathan Glazer's hypnotic, unsettling film moves like a dream — or a haunting — using stillness and restraint where other films reach for melodrama.
